Cocamidopropyl Betaine – Soft Amphoteric Surfactant

Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a soft amphoteric surfactant that has excellent thickening and foam-boosting properties. It is compatible with all classes of surfactants. When combined with anionic surfactants, it exhibits synergy that improves the dermatological properties of the final product.

It is derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil and serves as an amphoteric surface-active agent.

When compared to more aggressive anionic surfactants, amphoteric cocamidopropyl betaine has the least irritating effect on the skin. For this reason, it is often used in the production of baby cosmetics, toothpaste, mouthwashes, and personal hygiene gels. Additionally, its use as a secondary tenside in anionic surfactant formulations helps reduce their irritating effect, decrease degreasing, and improve the viscosity of the final product.

The product is stable over a wide pH range, making it ideal for creating formulations with various ingredients for use in different sectors of cosmetics and household chemical production, such as shampoos, bath foams, shower gels, and liquid soaps.
